Fees & Insurance
InsuranceI am out-of-network (OON) with all insurance companies; however many companies will reimburse clients for OON provider fees if your policy includes that benefit.
I understand the concerns involved with using out-of-network providers and I’m committed to reducing the burden on my clients. That’s why I’ve partnered with Thrizer, a third-party company who can check your benefits and file reimbursements on your behalf. For clients who qualify, Thrizer also offers Thrizer Pay (see more information below).
For clients who do not want to use Thrizer, I also provide a monthly Superbill through SimplePractice that includes all the necessary information required by insurances for you to submit your reimbursement requests.
Why don't you take insurance?Client flexibility: With an out-of-network provider, you remain in control of your care decisions, including the length of service, session frequency, treatment approaches, therapy goals, and scope of work that best supports your needs. This gives both you and your therapist the flexibility to focus on the outcomes and tools that matter most to you.
Client confidentiality: Insurance companies require specific diagnoses to justify care and sometimes request disclosure of notes to approve coverage. Remaining out-of-network allows me to better protect your privacy.
Elevated care: In-network providers are required to work around the specific limitations of what insurances consider coverable. Working outside this system means that you have access to a wider range of evidenced-based tools, will not be forced to discharge before you feel ready, or have to meet the requirements for a specific diagnosis.
Rates & Sliding ScaleMy fees are the following:
$180 for an initial appointment
$180 for a 60-minute appointment
$160 for a 45-minute appointment
I do offer a limited number of sliding scale spots at a reduced rate of 20% of the full session fee. The sliding scale option is only available to clients who have HMO plans and/or do not have out-of-network benefits. Contact me to learn more!
About Thrizer
Thrizer is a third-party company, created by former mental health providers, to support the ease of access to out-of-network benefits and reduce the complexity of the reimbursement process. Thrizer can estimate your benefits, let you know if you qualify for ThrizerPay, file reimbursements on your behalf, and support you in using your out-of-network payments against your deductible.
Depending on your eligibility, you may have different payment options:
OON Pay: You pay the full session fee upfront, and Thrizer submits the out-of-network claim. Any reimbursement goes back to you.
Thrizer Pay: If eligible, you pay an estimated upfront amount, and Thrizer advances the rest of the session fee.
Self-Pay: You pay the full session fee, and no insurance claim is submitted.
Thrizer fees depend on the payment option. If you use Thrizer Pay, the client fee is 5% of the session fee. If you use OON Pay, the client fee is 1% of the session fee.
ThrizerPayFor clients who have met their deductible/have no deductible and have out-of-network benefits that provide reimbursement, Thrizer offers ThrizerPay. With ThrizerPay, you are only charged your copay. Thrizer then covers the remainder of the session fee and submits for reimbursement from your insurance. Unfortunately, individuals with HMO plans are not eligible for ThrizerPay currently.
Please note: Insurance providers make the final decisions on all approval, claim timing, reimbursement rates, and eligibility. Reimbursement is not determined by Thrizer and is not guaranteed. It is determined by your insurance plan after claims are processed.
